Ohio State University College of Pharmacy alum Lance Miller has worked in long-term care environments since graduation in 1996, beginning as a Staff Pharmacist at Vrable Healthcare.
After multiple promotions and restructures, Miller and partners opened Choice Pharmacy Services in 1999 where he served as the Pharmacy Operations Manager and helped grow Choice Pharmacy Services from 300 beds to more than 3,500 beds in 2006, eventually partnering with PCA Pharmacy in 2009. Miller pursued an opportunity with Vrable Healthcare Services on the other side of the long-term care business as Director of Ancillary Services for their six-facility group of skilled nursing facilities.
Miller has been with Synchrony (formerly PCA Pharmacy) since 2010, serving as Regional VP of Operations all the way to VP of Operations. In this role, he has led the pharmacy operations teams in a unified direction to ensure that Synchrony continues to provide excellent service to its internal and external customers all while maintaining a strong financial position.
Lance Miller graduated from The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy in 1996 and went directly into the long-term care environment working as a Staff Pharmacist with Vrable Healthcare, an independent long-term care pharmacy. In 1997, Mr. Miller was promoted to IV Department Supervisor where he oversaw a team of four technicians that provided sterile compounds, TPNs, and IV solutions to Vrable’s SNF customers. In 1998/1999, Vrable Healthcare sold to Extendicare, which eventually sold to Omnicare and the pharmacy location was absorbed into Omnicare’s Central Ohio Pharmacy. Mr. Miller helped to successfully transition the Vrable IV Department to the new Extendicare pharmacy location before resigning to pursue the opportunity to own/manage a long-term care pharmacy in a partnership.
In 1999, Mr. Miller and his partners opened Choice Pharmacy Services where Mr. Miller served as the Pharmacy Operations Manager. Choice Pharmacy Services grew from 300 beds in 1999 to approximately 3,500 beds in 2006 and eventually partnered with PCA Pharmacy in 2009. At that time, Mr. Miller pursued an opportunity with Vrable Healthcare Services on the other side of the long-term care business as Director of Ancillary Services for their six-facility group of skilled nursing facilities.
As Director of Ancillary Services for Vrable Healthcare Services, Mr. Miller oversaw the contracts and operations of X-Ray, Lab, Oxygen, Physical Therapy, Dietary and Pharmacy. This experience provided him with a unique perspective on both sides of the long-term care industry and shaped his current approach to customer service and partnerships. In late 2010, Mr. Miller accepted an offer from PCA Pharmacy to work with his previous team members and help grow PCA Pharmacy’s Ohio market.
During Mr. Miller’s seven-year tenure with PCA Pharmacy, he has helped oversee the growth and acquisitions in each market by moving into the Regional VP of Operations position and eventually into his current position as VP of Operations. In this role, he has led the pharmacy operations teams in a unified direction to ensure that PCA Pharmacy provides excellent service to its internal and external customers all while maintaining a strong financial position.
