"The therapists here are very encouraging and even when I felt like beating myself down they helped pick me back up. They made me believe in myself."
Cindy Salyer arrived at Violet Springs Health Campus facing a challenging recovery. After an infection in her foot spread throughout her body, she endured eight weeks of IV antibiotics, unable to bear weight on either of her legs. It was a difficult time, as she struggled with the loss of independence and mobility. Once an active woman who enjoyed using her walker to get out in the community, Cindy now found herself unable to stand, let alone walk. The frustration was overwhelming, but she remained determined to regain her strength.
Throughout her skilled rehab stay, Cindy was surrounded by a team of therapists who believed in her and encouraged her every step of the way. Even when she felt like giving up, they motivated her to push through. Her primary goal was to walk again, and with focused therapy sessions, Cindy made significant strides. She learned how to stand for longer periods, improved her balance, and slowly began walking again with her walker—covering over 200 feet. The therapists at Violet Springs not only helped her regain her physical abilities but also restored her confidence, guiding her through each challenge with care and expertise.
As she reflects on her journey, Cindy acknowledges the difference that Violet Springs made in her recovery. Having been to two other facilities in the past, she describes the therapy at Violet Springs as far more intense and inclusive, offering a level of care she hadn’t experienced elsewhere. While she’s still working on perfecting her balance, Cindy is proud of her progress and grateful for the team that helped her every step of the way. Her story is a powerful reminder of the transformative impact of compassionate care and perseverance.
