"My therapist are wonderful. They are very knowledgeable and are very encouraging!"
Glenn Moore came to St. Andrews Health Campus to begin a challenging rehabilitation journey following an above-knee amputation caused by an infection stemming from a diabetic ulcer. After exhausting her Medicare benefits, she became a long-term resident and has remained committed to her rehab goals. Previously active in golf, bowling, and coaching youth sports, Glenn’s amputation and the initial challenges of needing a mechanical lift for transfers made it feel like she was starting from square one. Her primary goal was simple but deeply significant—to stand and regain enough mobility to go to the bathroom independently.
Through intensive therapy and sheer determination, Glenn has made impressive strides. The dedicated team at St. Andrews worked closely with her and collaborated with a prosthetic company to provide a custom prosthesis, enabling her to stand independently within the parallel bars and even walk short distances with close support. Describing her therapists as “wonderful, knowledgeable, and encouraging,” Glenn credits their unwavering commitment for her progress. Today, she is more independent within her room and needs less assistance from the staff. Glenn remains focused on her ultimate goal of walking confidently with a walker, a milestone she is eager to reach as she continues her inspiring journey forward.
