"The therapists here care so much and I didn't think I would be a at a place where people cared so much and it's not just a job."
James “Jim” Rice’s journey to recovery began after a life-altering fall at a construction site that left him with spinal fractures and a broken right tibia. Once an independent man who thrived in the demanding work of building homes, Jim found himself unable to walk more than a few feet with assistance when he first arrived at Violet Springs Health Campus. His goal was simple but deeply meaningful: to feel natural when walking again.
Through determination and the support of a caring team of therapists, Jim made remarkable progress. After undergoing skilled rehab and back surgery, he worked hard to regain his mobility. Today, Jim can walk over 600 feet with a cane, and no longer needs any walking device inside his home. Though he’s still working on perfecting his stride, his progress has allowed him to return to cherished activities like attending his grandkids’ events—milestones that once seemed out of reach.
Jim’s recovery experience at Violet Springs went beyond just physical improvement. He formed strong bonds with his therapists, who he describes as genuinely caring and committed to his success. “It’s hard to put into words,” Jim shared, reflecting on the environment at Violet Springs. “I thought skilled nursing facilities were sterile and uncaring, but not here. I’ve truly enjoyed my time, and the team made all the difference.” His story is a testament to the power of compassionate care and perseverance.
