Success Story: Nathan Oakes

Aspen Place Health Campus

"Awesome! They all did great and motivated me to do better and get better, even on the days I didn't want to do it."

Resident Story

Nathan Oakes recently completed his rehabilitation at Aspen Place Health Campus following a challenging bout with a knee infection. Hindered by the infection and unable to bear weight on his leg, Nathan patiently awaited recovery for a subsequent knee replacement. Once accustomed to an active lifestyle with just a walker, Nathan found himself weakened upon arrival at Aspen Place, requiring assistance for even the most basic activities. The therapists at the facility, whom Nathan describes as “awesome,” played a pivotal role in his extraordinary recovery. With their unwavering support and encouragement, especially from Chris, who good-naturedly endured teasing, and Jamie, whom Nathan regarded as the best, he not only achieved his goal of walking with a walker but surpassed it. Now, Nathan can independently perform transfers, get in and out of bed, confidently walk with his walker, and even lift his leg without external aids. His journey stands as a testament to the transformative power of rehabilitation, showcasing the incredible impact that skilled therapists and a positive mindset can have on one’s recovery.
