Success Story: Vicki Gierke

The Heritage

"I wouldn't trade them for any amount of $$$. Every time, I come here the therapists are great. You have a great therapy department!"

Resident Story

After a challenging period at home, where weakness and a recent fall left her struggling with basic activities, Vicki was admitted to The Heritage. The combination of COVID and bruising had significantly impacted her ability to move independently, making everyday tasks like getting out of bed, using the bathroom, and walking a major challenge.

From the moment Vicki began her therapy, she set a clear goal: she wanted to regain the ability to use her shower. While this specific goal presented difficulties, the therapists at The Heritage went above and beyond by working with her directly at home. Although Vicki wasn’t able to use the shower just yet, they created a practical solution with a hand-held shower and a tub bench, making it possible for her to manage this essential task in the near future.

After 19 days of therapy, Vicki is preparing to return home to her husband and son, a feat she had worked hard to achieve. She now walks independently with her walker, can get up from chairs without assistance, and has learned how to use a leg lifter to get into bed. Her gratitude for the exceptional care she received at The Heritage is evident, and she’s thrilled to see improvements in both herself and fellow residents. With ongoing home health support arranged, Vicki is set to continue her progress, reflecting the true impact of dedicated therapy and compassionate care.
