Synchrony Survivors: Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2023 — Susie H.

Introducing our “Synchrony Survivors” – Stories of Strength, Resilience, and Hope.

In our ongoing mission to provide support and inspiration to those facing life’s toughest challenges, we’re proud to present “Synchrony Survivors.” This platform is dedicated to the remarkable Team Members who have triumphed over breast cancer and are now eager to share their stories of resilience, encouragement, and hope.

Our next story comes from Susie H., a survivor from Columbus, OH. Susie’s message of staying positive throughout her journey is one that can inspire.

Together, we want to share stories which help us in facing life’s challenges.

What message of hope or encouragement would you like to share with others who are currently facing a breast cancer diagnosis or undergoing treatment?

Stay positive and strong. Do not let cancer get the best of you! Have your mammograms yearly.

Can you highlight a specific moment or source of inspiration that helped you stay strong and positive throughout your breast cancer journey.

I found I had friends who had or were going through the same thing. It helped to stay positive.  One of the best highlights was when I found out my oldest grandchild was coming in July of 2014.

Many people draw strength from the stories of survivors. What personal mantra or piece of advice guided you during your battle with breast cancer, and how can it inspire others?

Always be positive! Pray to God for the strength to keep going.

Do you have any additional anecdotes as a part of your story you would like to share?

I am a Breast Cancer survivor. My diagnosis was made in the fall of 2013. I was going through a stressful time at PCA and my personal life. I really thought I was having a heart attack and had my boyfriend take me to ER. Turns out anxiety.  I would have never found out if not. I had a lumpectomy in January and radiation started. It has not changed my life much. There are things I blame the radiation on. Such as my dislike for foods I used to love.
